This started as an idea, a box of kids books being passed around parents, or a box sitting in a waiting room at dentist or tyre change. It became the idea of a shelf ( where similar has appeared in bars, cinemas and cafes, as well as old elephone kiosks ). It became a Bag of Books that was passed around our kids group as a living pilot.
The latest stage, October 2023, is two pilots in plan for October/November start at Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya, where 24 kids get 5 books ech per week in a bag, for 12 weeks. 60 books for them to browse or read at home, bought from a local bookstore, stored and passed around in a locally made bag.
